The introducon of the Intel® Xeon® E5 family of processors responds to the call for more virtual server

resources with two more cores, 8MB more cache, and six more DIMMs of faster DDR3-1600 memory,

increasing the total to eight cores, 768GB of RAM, and doubling the I/O bandwidth with PCIe® 3.0.

Intel’s new Xeon E5 promises a signicant increase in server I/O by enabling full-bandwidth, four-port 10GbE

server adapters as well as dual-port Gen 5 Fibre Channel server adapter support, addressing the VM density

issue with a substanal increase in I/O bandwidth that host servers require.
